Fall Bridal + Groomal Session by Alixann Loosle Photography

Happy Friday! On this beautiful fall day we have a beautiful fall bridal + groomal session by Alixann Loosle Photography to share with you. Get ready, ladies and gents, because these images are fall-tastic!

The bride, Sarah, and her groom, Jake, took advantage of Utah’s colorful fall leaves for their bride and groom portraits. Sarah designed her wedding dress and had it custom made by Yuki Moyers with Tabasa. Sarah shares her inspiration for the gorgeous gown:

I wanted my dress to be elegant and to reflect the romance of the past as well as capture the whimsy and free-spirit of our wedding. I drew inspiration from dresses of the 1800s, the ’60s and ’70s (my favorite decades of fashion), and a couple of my favorite dresses by contemporary designers, particularly Elie Saab. My seamstress Yuki was amazing. She was excited about the whole concept and finished the dress with ease. It was an experience seeing my idea on paper come to life in stages rather than choosing something off the rack. On our wedding day, I felt beautiful and comfortably “me.”

L-O-V-E! Stay tuned, because we have more photos from Sarah and Jake’s beautiful fall bridal/groomal session coming up later today!

Brides and grooms (and moms and dads), wouldn’t it be cool if you could plan the wedding of your dreams without having to pay a single penny to make it happen? Well, thanks to a group of local, top-notch vendors, that dream could come true…

Allow me introduce you to Inspired–A Dream Wedding Giveaway. The Utah wedding giveaway is the brainchild of Alix Loosle of Alixann Loosle Photography and Ashley Lloyd of Attention 2 Detail Events.

Here’s the dealio:

Couples can enter to win the giveaway by submitting an inspiration board and paragraph describing their dream wedding by April 1st. The lucky couple will win a wedding package valued at more than $10,000!

The brains behind the Inspired giveaway, Alix and Ashley, share their inspiration for creating the contest:

We love when our clients think of new and unique ideas for their weddings that inspire us and change our way of thinking. We wanted to encourage that among Utah brides and we thought it would be fun to organize a giveaway promoting creative and unique weddings.

Along with Alixann Loosle Photography and Attention 2 Detail Events, a number of local wedding professionals are involved in the Inspired giveaway and will be donating their services to the winning couple: Alexis June Creative, Nathan Pickett Films, Bayshore Cakes, Signature Brides Hair & Makeup, and more.

Happy first day of spring! In celebration of the vernal equinox, we have a pretty little bridal session by Alixann Loosle Photography for you to feast your eyes on today.

You may recognize local bride Ashley Payne from the pages of our current issue. We chose Ashley as our “real bride, real beauty” spotlight for the Look Smart section of the magazine. For her bridal photos, Ashley posed alongside her hubby-to-be, Dylan Bailey, in a beaded lace gown from Mary’s Bridal.  The only accessory she needed (aside from her handsome groom)? A few fluffy pink peonies, natch.

Love Ashley’s look? Stay tuned to see more of this stylish couple–on Friday we’ll be featuring photos from their gorgeous June wedding!

Thank you Ashely, Dylan, and Alixann Loosle for sharing these photos with us today!

Real Utah Wedding: Ashley + Dylan at Highland Gardens | Alixann Loosle Photography

On Wednesday we featured Ashley and Dylan’s pretty spring bridal session by Alixann Loosle Photography, and today we’re spotlighting the Utah couple’s June wedding at Highland Gardens. The fresh summer fling is full of beautiful, heartfelt details: Ashley wore her great-grandma Stella’s earrings—a gift from her grandma—with her lace mermaid dress, and her mom, aunts, and grandma hunted down each and every vintage vase displayed on the reception tables. And did we mention Alixann Loosle’s gorgeous photos? See the goods for yourself.

Bride Ashley shares her favorite details of the big day, from the vintage vases and pom garland to the gold Chiavari chairs and wood-fired pizza:

My favorite element of my wedding was the collection of vintage vases used for the flowers. My mom, aunts, and grandma spent countless afternoons collecting them, and I loved that each vase was unique. It was so fun to mix and match the vases to give each table an eclectic yet uniform and simple look that let the gorgeous flowers shine.

I loved that the pom garland gave the reception a fun pop of color. The garland was a DIY project by my mom—a big effort, but it added color without having too many decorations. Also, I am glad  we splurged a little on the gold Chiavari chairs. It was worth the extra money because they added an element of elegance to the decor.

Something that was important to us was to have the food represent what we love to eat instead of just having typical reception food. We love finding new pizza restaurants, so having wood-fired pizza, Izze sodas, and “his” and “her” desserts was a perfect representation of us and what we like.

Congratulations Ashley and Dylan! Thank you, Alixann, for sharing this wedding with us! Want to learn more about Ashley’s wedding-day look? Get the full scoop on her hair and makeup in the “Look Smart” section of our current issue.

You may have seen today’s featured bride and groom, Mahala Wheatley and Ian Soane, on Alta Moda Bridal’s blog last week. We loved the Utah couple’s first look and bridal photos so much, we had to share more of the merry images by Alixann Loosle Photography. What’s to love? Let us count the ways: First, there’s Mahala’s beautiful lace wedding dress with delicate sleeves, an exclusive design from Alta Moda Bridal. Second, there’s Mahala’s rich red bouquet and floral crown by Flower Afternoon. And third, there’s Ian’s dapper wool suit complete with elbow patches. Talk about a well-dressed duo.

‘Tis the season—the season for proposals.

Nearly a quarter of all proposals happen in November and December. (There must be something about turkeys and pine trees that scream everlasting love.) If he or she puts a ring on it, we want to share the happy news and shout it from the mountaintops—except that by “mountaintops” we mean our Instagram and blog.

Whether he/she popped the question on the slopes at Snowbird, while camping in Zion, or post-dinner in downtown SLC, we want to relive the moment with you.

Email a photo of your ring and a few sentences describing your proposal story to info@saltlakebrideandgroom.com with the subject line: Real Proposal. We’ll select our favorites to share with our readers!

NAMES Sara Kolettis and Matthew Hansen LIVE IN Tacoma, Washington but they love Utah’s mountains OCCUPATIONS She works in marketing; he is an army intelligence officer WHERE THEY MET Ghana, West Africa; she was interning for a women’s organization and he and a group from West Point went to work with the same organization WHERE HE PROPOSED New york City’s Central Park on a beautiful winter day WEDDING WEATHER Rain and more rain NECESSARY SPLURGE They spent more than they planned for their destination, outdoor wedding because of last-minute arrangements due to the rain NUMBER OF GUESTS 100 WEDDING THEME Fall Elegance, inspired by the rich colors and textures of the season DÉCOR DETAILS They wanted the day to feel formal, romantic, and ethereal. They dressed up the rustic venue with gold and lace accents, calligraphy paper goods, and cascading floral arrangements and chandeliers COLORS Plum, aubergine, gold, wheat, blush, and peach BRIDAL ATTIRE A custom gown by Samuelle Couture made with layers of champagne fabric and a purple underskirt; the dress inspired much of the wedding’s decor NONTRADITIONAL ELEMENT The bride asked her best guy friend to be a “brosmaid” RECEPTION MENU Seasonal, locally sourced dishes including center-cut filets with forest mushroom ragu and thyme over herbed creamy barley and grilled mountain red trout with grilled peach relish with mustard seed pecan crumble DESSERT Glazed cider donuts stuffed with peaches, hot apple cider, and a four-tier pumpkin cake with lavender-hued cream-cheese frosting, gold-foil flowers, and fresh roses UNEXPECTED MOMENTS On paper, the wedding had the potential to be a disaster: torrential rain, inches of mud and water that ruined everyone’s shoes and destroyed the bride’s dress, and a national air-travel incident that caused delayed flights and absent guests. But in the end, they had an amazing time and were thankful to celebrate and laugh with friends and family THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Wet, dreamy, magical

“As my dad said, if how we weathered the challenges of our wedding day was any indication of how we would weather our marriage, Matt and I were in for a long and happy life together.” —Sara
